Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Tourists have slowly caught on to Bosnia’s untouched charm and adventurous globe trekkers have lauded the rich cultural and historic delights that Bosnia and Herzegovina has to offer.

With cobblestone streets and charming restaurants, Mostar is picturesque landscape of a time gone by. Historic edifices in stark grey stone loom over the clear, green River Buna and its lush greenery, which surrounds the city.

The old bridge which is perched high in the old town, has immense historical importance in Mostar. Built by the Ottomans in the 16th century it is one of Bosnia’s most recognizable landmarks. In fact, Mostar was named after the bridge keepers (known as mostari) who in medieval times guarded the Old Bridge.

The beauty of Mostar lies in the turquoise river, elegant minarets and shiny white stone but with reminders of the city’s brutal past visible in the bullet hole-laden walls and bombed out buildings nestled among the shops and cafes.
